Anni Puuperä is a Helsinki-based freelance choreographer, performer and dance teacher.
She graduated in 2011 from Savonia Applied Sciences as a dance teacher in contemporary dance. Since her graduation Anni has worked as as dance artist and dance teacher. She has performed in various dance festivals in Finland and abroad, for example in Kuopio Dance festival and Urbanapa festival. Her works has been shown for example in Zodiak centre for new dance (Helsinki) and Zil-culture center (Moscow.)
Lately Anni has worked in community dance projects and has made performances with amateurs. She has done projects with Zodiak, Tyttöjen talo, Museum of technology and Lilinkotisäätiö. Her aim is to create and make art in different kinds of situations and collaborate with different kinds of people. In 2019 Anni completed her MA studies in applied arts.
Currently she is working in collaboration with Koneen säätiö and Saaren kartano residency. Anni is one of the artists in upcoming Community art trienal She will create a performance in Mynämäki with local people and present her work in a seminar. In her work she is interested in researching the politics of a body and performance. With her artistic work she wants to finds ways to shake existing power relations in society. Anni is also interested in post-humanist viewpoint to making performances and working in collaboration with non-human performers. Anni works mainly with improvisation, movement research and choreographic improvisation.
